RUSS 6611 - Intermediate Russian I

Prerequisite: RUSS 6602 . This course further develops the skills acquired in elementary Russian and continues to emphasize the four basic language skills while increasing students' ability to employ more complex syntax and grammatical structures. Greater focus will be placed on conversation and oral group work, as well as on reading longer texts. New vocabulary and grammar will be presented in the context of themes relevant to daily life, and cultural materials in various media, including videos, poems and songs, will play a central role in reinforcing linguistic skills. In addition, students will watch a cultural video series in Russian over the course of the semester and prepare short weekly journal assignments that engage new vocabulary and cultural content. A final oral project designed by the student will be due at the end of the semester. This class is conducted entirely in Russian. 3 credits.
