INTS 2301 - Algorithms and the Arts

Algorithms are altering the landscape of human creativity. Authors, musicians, and visual artists now harness the power of machine learning to develop previously unimaginable works. Social media and streaming services analyze our behavior and use "recommendation algorithms" to keep us scrolling, watching, and listening. This course will provide an opportunity to analyze these recent changes in the arts and media - and to predict what the future of this technology has in store. Students will undertake interdisciplinary projects to consider the impacts of algorithms on our engagement with the creative arts. 3 credits.
