DGAD 2250 - Digital Fabrication Art This course explores digital fabrication as a contemporary art form. Students will develop art projects using the university maker space and be guided through the processes of 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC routing and other digital fabrication methods. The class has a theoretical focus on machine use within the practice and history of art. Lectures and hands-on activities are supplemented by tutorials covering content creation using vector based design software and 3D modeling platforms. Students learn how to use the computer as a tool to create art forms from the digital and virtual realms to the physical world. Laboratory fee; 3 credits.
