HLTH 2220 - Applied Medical Terminology This course is designed to help the student understand the unique terminology related to human body systems and to form an advanced understanding of the language used by professionals in the healthcare field. The basic structure of medical terms and the rules for word building and word deconstruction will be discussed in the context of how the body works in health and disease. Emphasis will be placed on recognition of medical abbreviations, relating terms to procedures and diagnostics, comprehension of new medical terminology by breaking words down into component parts, and applying medical terms in the context of patient care. 3 credits.
