INVS 4310 - Current Topics in Healthcare Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Investigations

Healthcare fraud investigations (HCF) can be very complex and require requisite skills for successful outcomes. This course will prepare the HCF investigator to discern when to interview vs. conduct an interrogation and write a summary interview report that is appropriate for a court of law. The skill of report writing for criminal and/or civil prosecution or litigation is one of the most important elements of the investigation and this course will cover how a report should be written. The course will also cover how to testify in court in a trial setting from former law enforcement instructors that are expert witnesses. A special focus will be on a large fraud case wherein the students will follow the evidence, conduct interviews, testify, and write reports. 3 credits.
