PHAS 6071 - Family/Ambulatory Medicine Prerequisite: successful completion of 56 credit hours within the Physician Associate program. Family Medicine supervised clinical practice experience is a 5-week clinical practice course focused on the comprehensive care of individuals and their families. Students will work with clinical practitioners who specialize in the delivery of care to their family medicine patients in the outpatient healthcare setting. Students are expected to evaluate, assess, and manage common family medicine urgent and emergent problems, provide acute and chronic care, preventative health services, and patient education to their family medicine patients. Students are expected to refine and build on the techniques and clinical skills acquired during their didactic phase. Students will develop a more in-depth, specialty focused, understanding of the best practices of utilizing diagnostic workups, and interpreting diagnostic studies specific to the patients commonly cared for in the family medicine setting. 4 credits.
