MLSC 6616 - Blood Coagulation, Hemostasis, and Urinalysis with Laboratory Co-requisite: MLSC 6626 . Prerequisite or co-requisite: MLSC 6601 . This course will cover the basic principles of hemostasis including the vascular component, platelet physiology and function, coagulation factors, fibrin clot formation, and fibrinolysis. Hereditary and acquired forms of hemorrhagic disorders and thromboembolic disease are examined along with the test procedures for their diagnoses and the initiation and testing methods of therapy. The course will also cover the normal physiology and development of the kidneys and urinary tract; production and function of other non-blood body fluids; and the physical, chemical, and microscopic analysis of urine and other non-blood body fluids. 4 credits.
