The International Business program at the University of New Haven is designed around the design standard that the student possess both a technical competency in a particular business discipline and a larger global perspective of markets delivered through proficiency in a foreign language, a study abroad experience, and both depth and breadth of knowledge on international business topics.
As such, there is not one International Business degree available in the College of Business at the University of New Haven; there are options across the departments:
In each case, the design for the International Business degrees follow the following pattern:
- Student completes all the requirements for the core business discipline (such as Management for the International Business, Management degree).
- Additionally, the student must:
- Have a study abroad experience (Prato, a semester abroad, a year abroad, a faculty-led study abroad trip, or an internship abroad).
- Have competency at the intermediate II level for a foreign language
- Have completed both an international business class within their core business discipline and within another business discipline.
Students with a declared International Business major have 2 academic advisors - one in the core business discipline (to keep them on track for their core competency) and the international business advisor for the college (currently Associate Dean Charles Skipton).
