Program Director: Michael Urban, OTD, Quinnipiac University

The Master of Athletic Training (MAT) program prepares students to become healthcare professionals who collaborate with physicians in sports medicine. Students will gain knowledge and skills in the biological, psychological, and social areas. These skills are necessary to diagnose, prevent, and treat athletic injuries and trauma. The MAT program prepares students to work as entry-level practitioners in a variety of settings.

Athletic training students assist athletes with training and performance enhancement at the high school, collegiate, and professional athletics levels. They work closely with sport medicine physicians to treat and prevent injuries.  Athletic trainers can specialize to seek employment in a variety of work settings such as hospitals, corporate wellness programs, collegiate athletic programs, high school and professional sports teams, the military, the performing arts, and the federal government.
