The program is designed for individuals with an interest in earning an advanced degree in chemistry, biology, energy, physics, mathematics, and systems engineering that focuses on integrating theoretical, industrial, and computational approaches with experimental methods to design, optimize, and manage chemical, biomolecular, and energy systems for the future rapidly changing products and techniques. Currently, there is a need for undergraduate students in chemical engineering to continuously pursue MS degrees related to chemical process, energy, and biomolecular systems engineering and this program can fill that need. Graduates of the BS Chemical Engineering program will be able to make the transition to the MS Chemical Engineering program, eventually leading to expanded career paths for such students. This program will be focused on the areas of Chemical Process Systems Engineering, Biomolecular Systems Engineering, and Energy and Environmental Systems Engineering, which create unique disciplines in advanced systems engineering (computer and business). Meanwhile, this program will be closely correlated with MS programs in biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, mathematics, and data science, and will thus provide great opportunities for collaboration of education and research projects. Through these collaborations, the students will be exposed to multidisciplinary knowledge in chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, and data science.
