Medical Laboratory Science, M.S.

The MS in Medical Laboratory Science graduate program is designed for individuals holding a bachelor of science in biology, chemistry, or a related major and who are not certified medical technologists or medical laboratory scientists but who desire a career in the clinical laboratory sciences. Medical laboratory scientists are trained to work in clinical chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, immunology, and microbiology with various sub-specialties in each of those major areas.

Physician Associate, M.M.S.

The mission of the University of New Haven is to "to prepare our students to lead purposeful and fulfilling lives in a global society by providing the highest-quality education through experiential, collaborative, and discovery-based learning." The Master of Medical Science Physician Associate program is consistent with this mission through major content themes in the student's didactic work enhanced by clinical experiences in the treatment clinic that culminates with a capstone project and standardized nation-wide end of curriculum exam prior to graduation to produce knowledgeable and skilled Physician Associates with a focus of service and the provision of quality healthcare.

This program is also consistent with the mission of the School of Health Sciences which is "to train competent, caring health professionals by delivering innovative, interdisciplinary healthcare education and services that are student-centered, focused on excellence, and with a global reach." The Master of Medical Science Physician Associate program does this by focusing on competency-based education in the classroom and in the clinic while integrating the Planetree philosophy of care into student experiences and coursework. The program is designed to meet the needs of students to pass national certification to practice as an entry level Physician Associate in any heath care setting in the United States.
