The university, in conjunction with the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM), has developed a concentration endorsed by the IAVM, and its more than 4,300 members. The focus is on how to manage large public assembly facilities such as stadiums and arenas. Topics covered include specialties such as facility financing, community marketing, field maintenance, and crowd management.
For students who choose to complete the master's program with a concentration in facility management, the program includes the six sports/facility management core courses, and four of the concentration courses listed below (12 credits), including SMGT 6613 and and SMGT 6622 Students who have not taken a managerial accounting course and a financial accounting course (and received at least a B or higher grade in that class) before starting the program will need to take ACCT 6620 Financial Accounting for Managers as one of their elective courses.
