B.A., English
Thirty credits in English beyond the first year writing courses are required for a major in English. Students completing a B.A. in English must complete the English Core, and the requirements for one of the concentrations in English (concentration in literature or concentration in writing). In addition, they must complete 40 credits of the University Core Curriculum with the following restrictions:
- ENGL courses cannot be used to satisfy CC 8 or CC 9
- A student can take no more than one ENGL course in Tier 2 of CC 1
English Core
15 credits
These courses develop foundational knowledge and skills and provide context for literary periods, cultures and genres.
Concentration in Literature
The literature concentration requires five additional literature courses, at least three of which are 3000-level or higher. ENGL 4480 Internship may replace one of these five additional courses. 15 credits.
Plus, 51 credits of free electives
Accelerated B.A. English/M.B.A. Business Administration
The accelerated B.A. English and M.B.A. degree program is available for either undergraduate English concentration. To qualify, students must have at least a 3.5 high school GPA and a score of 1100 on the SAT. Students in the program must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to continue into the graduate portion of the program. Students in this program will complete their B.A. English in the first three years. In the third year, students will begin their M.B.A. course work, which they will complete in year four.
Direct Entry B.A. English/M.B.A. Business Administration
The direct entry B.A. English and M.B.A. degree program is available for either undergraduate English concentration. To qualify, students must have at least a 3.5 high school GPA and a score of 1100 on the SAT. Students in the program must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to continue into the graduate portion of the program. Students in this program will complete their B.A. English in the first four years. In the fourth year, students will begin their M.B.A. course work, which they will complete in year five.
