Hospitality and Tourism Management, Event and Tourism Management Concentration, B.S.

The Event and Tourism Management Concentration provides students with skills and experiences focused specifically on the event and tourism industries. Students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and experience relevant for managing the sustainable tourism experience for the benefit of the traveler, host, and supporting industries. Complex aspects of event, convention, and meeting management are highlighted. Students will also be exposed to the competencies essential to functioning within the industry in an international context.

Students earning a B.S. degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a concentration in Event and Tourism Management are required to complete 121 credits, including the University core curriculum (41 credits), Hospitality and Tourism Management major requirements (36 credits), Event and Tourism Management concentration (9 credits), Writing Across the Curriculum elective (3 credits), fieldwork (2 credits), service requirement (1 credit), internship (3 credits) and free electives (26 credits).

University Core Curriculum (41 credits)


Hospitality and Tourism Management majors may complete the 41-credit University Core Curriculum with the following restrictions:

Majors are not restricted in the way that the Writing Across the Curriculum requirement is satisfied but are encouraged to take a WAC-coded section of BUSA 1000  Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship.
