Health Sciences, B.S.

The B.S. in Health Sciences combines basic scientific knowledge, healthcare industry specific knowledge, and practical skills for students to be competitive in the 21st century healthcare workforce. The program addresses both the administrative and technical aspects of healthcare as well as the professional, social, ethical, and political elements.  Courses provide broad technical skills as well as the organizational competencies needed for entry level positions in a wide range of healthcare organizations and companies.  In particular, this program aims to provide a broad, interdisciplinary training for students interested in non-licensed and allied health fields including but not limited to population health, clinical research administration, and healthcare administration.

Students earning a B.S. degree in health sciences must complete a minimum of 126 credits. Courses include the University Core Curriculum and the course requirements indicated below.

BS in Health Sciences and Master of Public Health


The BS in Health Sciences and Master of Public Health accelerated program is a five-year, 153 credit degree program designed for students interested in careers as a public health professional, working in governmental or non-profit health related organizations, or international and global health settings. This degree program combines our interdisciplinary approach to learning about the healthcare industry with advanced knowledge about the field of public health. This degree combination includes graduate coursework starting in the junior year as well as coursework during the summer after the senior year to complete the program. 

Students applying for Fall 2020 may apply directly to this dual degree program. Students who meet the admission criteria for this program will also be conditionally accepted into the MPH Program. This conditional acceptance remains effective for students who maintain a cumulative 3.2 undergraduate GPA.

BS in Health Sciences and Master of Healthcare Administration


The B.S. in Health Sciences and Master of Healthcare Administration accelerated program is a five-year, 150-credit degree program designed for students interested in careers in hospital administration, healthcare finance, health policy, medical group management, and other aspects of the healthcare industry.  This degree program combines our interdisciplinary approach to learning about the healthcare industry with advanced competency-based healthcare knowledge and skills that are essential for the aspiring healthcare leaders of the future.  This degree combination includes graduate coursework in the senior year as well as coursework during the summer after the senior year in order to complete the program.

Students applying for fall 2020 may apply directly to this dual degree program.  Students who meet the admission criteria for this program will also be conditionally accepted into the M.H.A. program.  This conditional acceptance remains effective for students who maintain a cumulative 3.2 undergraduate GPA.
