Hospitality and Tourism Management, General Concentration, B.S.

The Hospitality and Tourism Management degree without a defined concentration affords students more elective choices and therefore enables students to add a minor from within the College of Business or from other Colleges in the University if they so choose.

Program Outcomes

     1.1 Students will apply general business knowledge to hospitality business operations and growth.

    1.2 Compose written work that demonstrates application of business concepts in the Hospitality and Tourism  disciplines.

    1.3 Develop a solution for a business/operations problem identified with a real-world organization from the Hospitality and Tourism industries.

   2.1 Evaluate a current topic related to social responsibility in the Hospitality and Tourism industries.

   2.2 Orally defend a position that addresses a current topic related to the Hospitality and Tourism industries and business ethics.

   3.1 Demonstrate the ability to make collaborative decisions in the Hospitality and Tourism industries.

   3.2 Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

   4.1 Evaluate how changes in the global market for hospitality and/or tourism impact key issues related to sustainability.

 

Students earning a B.S. degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management with no concentration are required to complete 121 credits, including the University core curriculum (41 credits), Hospitality and Tourism Management major requirements (36 credits), HTMG restricted electives (9 credits), Writing Across the Curriculum elective (3 credits), fieldwork (2 credits), service requirement (1 credit), internship (3 credits) and free electives (26 credits).

University Core Curriculum (41 credits)


Hospitality and Tourism Management majors may complete the 41-credit University Core Curriculum with the following restrictions:

Majors are not restricted in the way that the Writing Across the Curriculum requirement is satisfied but are encouraged to take a WAC-coded section of BUSA 1000  Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship.
