Pathway to Engineering Certificate

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Tagliatela College of Engineering

The Pathway to Engineering Certificate program is a collaborative effort between the University of New Haven and Edge Pathways, Inc. of New York, NY. The University is providing the curriculum and academic oversight while Edge Pathways is providing the service aspects of the program. Our collaboration seeks to recruit and prepare promising students, particularly women and underserved populations, in disciplines for which demand is high and supply is lacking.

The program will deliver 30-31 credits of introductory course content through a synchronous online format to enrolled students in a highly-engaged environment with extensive student support.  The objective is to leverage Edge's expertise to enroll and support thousands of students to fill the chronic shortage of capably trained engineers.

Students in this program will receive University of New Haven credit for courses taken and will have an opportunity to continue their studies at the University of New Haven upon successful completion of the first-year program.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the certificate, students will be able to:

  1. Convey how the fundamental concepts in calculus, physics, and chemistry are applied to engineering problems.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to conduct experiments.
  3. Identify effective teamwork skills
  4. Communicate four-year STEM education plan and post-graduation goals.
  5. Create engineering drawings that communicate technical details required for production, assembly and inspection of common engineering products.
