Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 36 credits of graduate work, which may include an internship in national security. Transfer credit from other institutions may be permitted subject to the Graduate School policy on transfer credit detailed elsewhere in this catalog.
Students in the program are required to complete 18 credits of core courses and 18 credits of general electives. Students must complete a capstone requirement of either NSPS 6693 - National Security Internship I or NSPS 6697 Thesis I and NSPS 6698 Thesis II. If the six credit thesis option is selected, NSPS 6698 will count toward electives.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES:
- Develop a working knowledge of the most prominent features national security with an emphasis on the United States' national security enterprise.
- Acquire a foundational understanding and awareness of issues related to cyber security and information protection.
- Formulate original research through graduate-level thesis or acquire practitioner work experience through an internship.
- Evaluate and design policy solutions to contemporary national security problems.
