Race and Ethnic Studies Minor

The minor in race and ethnic Studies is an interdisciplinary program offered in the College of Arts and Sciences and housed in the Department of English. To provide students the tools and competencies to participate in a multi-racial and ethnic society and to be reflective about their racial and ethnic identities, the program provides students with a diversity of approaches to ethnicity and the concept of race in the United States and abroad. Course offerings are a mix of social science, the humanities, and legal studies. The minor consists of courses in English, history, political science, sociology, philosophy and music. A student may minor in this program by completing 18 credits. Students may choose from among the listed courses as well as Race & Ethnic Studies restricted electives approved by the department chair.
