This program is designed to establish the development of a strong contemporary artistic practice by promoting technical proficiency and critical visual thinking. This is achieved in part through art foundations coursework that includes the traditional media of drawing, painting, sculpture, and art history. In addition, the program brings students into the present with explorations of contemporary theory and concepts through alternative media and new digital practices. The program culminates in a thesis project that highlights the development of each student's individual language of form and content, while also connecting to larger contexts of history and culture
