Italian Studies Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Undergraduate Programs

Please refer to important information on minor requirements on this page. This minor combines courses in basic, intermediate, and advanced language, as well as literature, history, and Italian culture. If students begin at a level beyond ITAL 1102 , they can take additional courses from the area studies category to meet the 15-credit hour requirement.

Required Courses

Note:  Listed below is the sequence of courses for students with no previous knowledge of Italian.  Students who studied more than one year of Italian prior to matriculation at the University of New Haven will need to take the placement test in order to determine their level of proficiency.  If students place higher than ITAL 1102 , they will substitute the classes they outplaced with additional area study courses in order to meet the 15-hour requirement.

Note

Note: Special Topics in Italian or about Italian culture may satisfy the elective requirements upon approval of the Modern Language Coordinator.
