Requirements for Minors
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be unduplicated, i.e., not used to simultaneously satisfy credit requirements of the major, core curriculum, or additional minors.
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be completed in residence at UNH.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required in the minor (programs may set higher requirements).
- A student may not declare a major and minor in the same program.
The minor in Theater Arts offers students the opportunity to explore theater studies, dramatic literature, and performance studies in a wide range of courses and co-curricular activities that bring together history, theory, and collaborative practice. Emphasis on the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and access in courses and artistic endeavors allows students to experience the potential theater has to create social change and promote community engagement. 18 credits are required for completion of the minor.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
By the end of this minor, students will be able to:
- Describe the roles of various theatrical artists and practitioners (e.g., playwrights, performers, directors, dramaturgs, designers, stage managers, crew) in the collaborative creation of a theatrical production
- Analyze a text (written, visual, and performance) advancing interpretations by incorporating concrete details about content, style, and form from primary sources for support.
- Articulate ideas about the relationship between performance and culture, considering issues such as identity, community, ideology, politics, and aesthetics.

Students may select 12 credits from current THEA offerings. For specific information concerning a minor in theater arts, please consult with the program coordinator.
Notes
A maximum of 3 credits can be drawn from THEA 3315 Production Dramaturgy; a maximum of 3 credits can be drawn from THEA 3332 Theater for Community Impact; a maximum of 3 credits can be drawn from THEA 3355 Theater Production Lab; a maximum of 3 credits can be drawn from THEA 4485 Student New Works Festival.
