Requirements for Minors
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be unduplicated, i.e., not used to simultaneously satisfy credit requirements of the major, core curriculum, or additional minors.
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be completed in residence at UNH.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required in the minor (programs may set higher requirements).
- A student may not declare a major and minor in the same program.
The minor in Data Science aims to provide students with practical knowledge of the methods and techniques of data analysis, as well as the ability to think critically about the construction and implications of data analysis and models. The minor will empower students across the wide array of campus disciplines with a working knowledge of statistics, probability, computation, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) that allow students not just to participate in data science projects, but to design and carry out rigorous computational and inferential analysis for their field of interest.
- The program offers a core foundation in data science and trains students in competencies to work with data using computational and statistical techniques and tools as well as applying models and algorithms.
- The program engages students in the professional practice of data science with job titles such as data scientist and data analysts.
- The program promotes interdisciplinary studies by applying data science concepts to a broad range of disciplines including but not limited to science, engineering, business, and social sciences.
