Healthcare fraud, waste and abuse(HC FWA) has been growing significantly year to year with the estimated total around 130 billion dollars; close to 100 billion dollars of that estimate is Medicare fraud (NHCAA). This amount does not include the federal, state, and local spending on the pandemic, which is estimated to have incurred over 1 trillion dollars' worth of fraudulent activity. Just unraveling that will take a decade to resolve, if not longer on the civil side. Every agency and private sector group is looking for employees with knowledge in accounting and finance as well as HC FWA to conduct thorough financial investigations.
Students completing this minor will be able to:
- Analyze financial information.
- Analyze cyber intelligence.
- Integrate findings of financial and cyber intelligence into written reports.
- Develop appropriate information sharing strategies for a threat to a community or organization.
- Explain legal principles that affect the investigative strategies.
