Requirements for Minors
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be unduplicated, i.e., not used to simultaneously satisfy credit requirements of the major, core curriculum, or additional minors.
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be completed in residence at UNH.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required in the minor (programs may set higher requirements).
- A student may not declare a major and minor in the same program.
With the increased water demand caused by a growing population, it is important for everyone to understand the impact we have on our most precious resource. The minor in Environmental Engineering is designed to enhance a student's knowledge of water and wastewater treatment, pollutant fate and transport, and water resources engineering. This minor is best suited for students in civil engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, and mechanical engineering, but is open to all students with the necessary prerequisites. 15 credits are required for the completion of this minor for non-civil engineering majors. Civil engineering majors are required to complete 18 credits.
Program Outcomes:
- Apply the fundamental principles of environmental engineering to environmental systems.
- Design treatment/remediation systems or system components.
- Apply the legal and regulatory framework of environmental engineering practice.
- Synthesize information on technical as well as non-technical issues of environmental engineering.
