Students earning a B.A. degree in Communication with a concentration in Multi-platform Journalism and Media will build specialized knowledge and skills related to journalism, television, and video production across a variety of platforms and formats. Through coursework that emphasizes writing and production, real-world fieldwork opportunities, internships, and a practicum connected to the Charger Bulletin newspaper and website, Horseshoe Magazine, and Charger Bulletin News television show, students learn to become competent and well-rounded media professionals.
Program Outcomes:
1. Students who complete the program will be able to demonstrate specific interpersonal and applied communication skills in human communication theory; convergent media production aesthetics, theory and technical areas; media writing and journalism.
2. Students will learn to be effective team members in newsroom and news websites firms and offices.
3. Students will be able to complete increasingly complex real-world aesthetic and skill-based projects in print and broadcast journalism.
4. Students can use industry-based software and equipment to address increasingly complex real-world tasks or problems.
