Requirements for Minors
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be unduplicated, i.e., not used to simultaneously satisfy credit requirements of the major, core curriculum, or additional minors.
- At least 50% of the minor courses must be completed in residence at UNH.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required in the minor (programs may set higher requirements).
- A student may not declare a major and minor in the same program.
A minor in exercise science is desired in today's culture of fitness and offers an opportunity for students to become a certified personal trainer or group exercise instructor to assist in developing supporting exercise protocols for special populations like competitive athletes, rescue/fire, criminal justice, and military personnel as well as individuals of all ages trying to get fit and healthy. The minor in exercise science will assist the student in expanding their understanding of the science of movement and the importance of purposeful exercise for disease prevention or sports/performance, while strengthening their personal coaching and motivational skills with hands-on course work. A total of 19-20 credits is required.
