Educational Leadership in Health Sciences Certificate

In this certificate students will acquire the skills necessary to become proficient educators and leaders in healthcare education. Students will explore theories of learning and instruction from the perspectives of behavioral research, cognitive research, and theories of motivation and personality. Upon completion of the certificate students will have created a course for the health sciences in a learning management system complete with an outline of an educational program map as well as a course with properly written learning objectives, syllabi, and lesson plans. Students will also be proficient in the role of assessment, evaluation, and providing student feedback. To earn this certificate students must be 1) accepted to the D.H.Sc. program and 2) must be completing or have previously completed the healthcare leadership concentration.
Program Outcomes
By the end of this certificate program, the students will be able to:
- Apply educational theories in teaching and learning.
- Create a course with course maps in a learning management system.
- Analyze contemporary health sciences assessment issues in higher education.
- Examine an understanding of mini market and cost analysis for a new health profession/allied health program in a school of health sciences.
