ENVS 6650 - Environmental Microbiology Prerequisite: undergraduate biology major, or a course in biology and a course in organic chemistry. Interaction of microorganisms (principally bacteria and fungi) and their environments, stressing transformations they may accomplish depending on physical and chemical circumstances. Practical application of microbes in sewage and other soil/wastewater cleanup, biodeterioration, pest control, and production of useful products. Laboratory microcosm projects required. 3 credits.
