CMBI 7607 - Cellular Biology Prerequisite: completion of 15 credits of graduate work. This course is an advanced level course providing an in depth study of cellular structure and function. Primary emphasis is on eukaryotic cells, but prokaryotic structures are explored as well. Topics include: the role of biological membranes in cellular activity, the structure and function of cellular and extracellular components as well as, receptor structure and function, cellular signaling, cell growth and death, differentiation, and motility. There is extensive use of primary literature, and an emphasis on understanding of current research methods, developing critical thinking and data analysis skills, working in teams and individually.
