CMBI 6650 - Molecular Targets, Drug Discovery and Precision Medicine Prerequisite: 9 credit hours of graduate biology. Understanding the genes and signaling pathways involved in the pathogenesis of cancer has led to the development of novel approaches for the treatment of cancer. This course will first review literature generated over the last decade concerning molecular mechanisms involved in cancer biology. This information will provide the foundation for subsequent discussions on how this biological knowledge is being used to identify novel therapies for the treatment of this disease and how therapies progress from the bench to the bedside. In addition, the course will cover new types of precision medical treatment based on genomic and proteomic profiling and new advances in immune approaches. 3 credits.
