MLSC 3310 - Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine Prerequisites: BIOL 2260 , MLSC 3330 . This course will provide students with an introduction to the theory and practical application of methods that are required for routine blood bank practices in order to provide compatible blood components for transfusion. These include the collection, processing, storage, and transfusion of blood and blood components, blood group systems, blood group immunology, physiology and pathophysiology, serology and molecular testing, and transfusion practice. The course will also introduce immunohematology procedures that are used in the diagnosis and management of hemolytic disorders. Laboratory fee; 3 credits.
