ARBC 2201 - Intermediate Arabic I


Prerequisite: ARBC 1102  or consent of the instructor. This course builds upon the skills acquired in the first-year course sequence. Emphasis will be on mastering grammar, speaking skills, listening comprehension, and reading skills. Students will gain the confidence to converse with native speakers on a variety of topics, will be able to write simple texts on everyday themes, and will acquire the skills to read uncomplicated authentic texts, such as newspaper articles on familiar topics. In addition to the language practice skills students will explore some of the renowned Arab thinkers and will continue expanding on more of the cultural behaviors typical of what constitutes what is called the "Ummah" in the Arab-Muslim world. 3 credits.
