Music and Sound Recording, B.A.

The bachelor of arts in music and sound recording is a four-year degree program based on the philosophy that musicians should have a working knowledge of the media through which their art is most often heard and that sound recordists should have a working knowledge of the art form they are recording. The program is designed to instruct students in three interrelated areas: 1) music history, theory, and aesthetics; 2) musicianship; and 3) sound recording methodology and technique.

 

Program Outcomes

Students will be able to:  

1.) ... synthesize a broad range of creative and technical frameworks in the analysis of music.  

2.) ... evaluate mediated music and sound with respect to their cultural and societal context.  

3.) ... apply technology in the service of aesthetic goals.  

 

All students majoring in the B.A. in music and sound recording must complete 122-123 credits.
