Thirty credits in English beyond the first year writing courses are required for a major in English. Students completing a B.A. in English must complete the University Core Curriculum, the English Core, and the requirements for one of the concentrations in English (concentration in literature, concentration in writing, or track in pre-secondary education).
These courses develop foundational knowledge and skills and provide context for literary periods, cultures and genres.
Note: pre-secondary education students are strongly encouraged to take HIST 1110 American History since 1607 for the University Core Curriculum 4.2 requirement. It is also recommended that EDUC 6603 - Human Growth & Development and EDUC 6604 - Educational Psychology are taken as two of the required free electives. Please contact the Education Department for more information.
